Someone commented that my blog over at Blogspot is way more cheerful than most blogs. I never thought of it that way, but I'm glad she brought it up.

I blog primarily because there are things I want to remember. And I want to remember happy things, so for the most part I want to keep the posts as positive as possible.

Of course sometimes I just need somewhere to rant, and have people read my rantings, and offer their perspectives on my problems. It's a bit exhibitionistic, but I've always thought blogging entailed a bit of that. If blogs weren't meant to be viewed by people, they'd be called diaries. But anyway, my point is-I'm not too happy with how Blogspot has such limited privacy settings. When you want to rant, you'd want your closest circle of buddies to read it and be there for you, not the whole damn world. Now I happen to know that people from Spain and Mexico and Taiwan and goodness-knows-where-else have been reading my blog, because I have Sitemeter installed on the blog. But it's just a tad unsettling. They could seriously take a page out of LJ and provide an option for friends-only posts or even private posts, when you feel that occasional need to put that deep, dark secret down in digital writing without letting anyone know about it. Oh and LJ cuts are wonderful.

So now you're probably asking me - why the monkey am I still blogging over at blogspot when LJ is so warm and fuzzy. Well for one thing there's this picture upload function where you simply store files in the Blogger servers. For another there are so many more awesome skins available for blogger. And you dont have to pay good monayyy just to access the delicious features of Blogger. But still none of that hides the fact that LJ is so much more superior when it comes down to nice, organic, honest blogging. I think the conclusion to be drawn here is that Blogger's for the exhibitionist and individualist whereas LJ is for the no-frills blogger.

Feel free to dispute any of this. Anyhow I think It would be prudent to tread more carefully with the posts on blogspot. It's nice to know that I still have LJ to run to should I need to express anything friends-exclusive or private. Who knows, I might even migrate back here someday lol. It's still my first blog after all (:

It all started when Soon Heng intro-ed me to the following site: http://ieatishootipost.blogspot.com ...and since then I have been absolutely food-crazy..it led me to surf the net for more good cheap eats around Singapore. Just so I don't forget, here are the following places which I swear I will conquer:
Botak Jones
Aston's Specialties
Miss Clarity Cafe
Wham! Burger
SuperDog

There that's it. Sad thing is I have no one to go with nowadays, nor do I have the time. And knowing these hyped-up eateries, the quality will slide as time goes by.
:(
Oh well, at least I've tried one of these new kids on the block, eBlackboard. And i've eaten enough to give a decently well-informed review on it. However, I didn't bring my cam phone along on all three occasions there, so no pics to show for it. Therefore I also shan't bother to blog about it, becasue I strongly believe that all good blog posts about food should go with high-res PICS.

On another note, to satisfy my burger craving temporarily, I ate at Burger King today. All I can say is, gross, never again, not if I can help it. However it wasn't enough to put me off burgers altogether (I reckon the Botak You-Crazy-What will :) )

After all the hype about Singapore's largest shopping mall and cinema, I felt compelled to pay it a visit on Saturday. OK it was huge:

...but as expected, 60% of the stores weren't open yet. As such we only went to Tang's to look at some Mao merchandise and then proceeded to have dinner. Only there wasn't any dinner to be had at Singapore's largest shopping mall, so we hopped over to neighbouring Harbourfront for some Subway.

Admittedly, the sky garden was great. I have some pics here, but it also happened to be the haziest day in Singapore since 1997 so they didn't turn out very well. More on the haze later!

you can (barely) see the cable cars in the background:

theplayground on the 2nd floor:

Definitely great for dates!

Other interesting pics: here's one of the tangled-up escalators:

and of course, the cinema itself:

We went back on Sunday when the haze had cleared up, and the view from the sky garden was fantastic.
So...current verdict is--vivocity no good for buying (cos all the shops v high class)..just take your GF/BF there and admire.

Saturday was also the haziest day I'd seen in a long time, and it looked somehting like this

..OK fine, they didn't look very hazy. But the PSI peaked at 150..impressive!

It was supposed to be a class farewell dinner, but it somehow turned into a clique dinner.....a clique of which I wasn't a part of but joined for the night nonetheless.. It wasn't the first time I'd been the only guy in an outing, and I really cannot understand why my female friends think I'm feminine (and hence "one of them")

Anyway, the restaurant was called "Sun with Moon", somewhere in Wheelock Place with excellent decor..that was one of my favourite things about that place. And then there was the wonderful dessert--chocolate sundae with cereal and choc bits at the bottom, the usual green tea ice cream with red bean, black sesame pudding..and uhh avocado soft shell crab sushi (exotic but plain tasting). Great stuff. The main course was pretty normal though. Slightly above average I guess.

On a side note, I was wearing the orange class tee that was the product of a collab between Xiuli and myself. Personally I was never very pleased with the colour, but what the heck..

I never got to know Xiuli very well, but nonetheless I was moved by the whole thing..of course I was happy for her-heck I want to be in her place-but we'll all miss her! Hope she realises the value of MSN real soon..oh and I still dunno what skype is..shall go check it out..

Anyway, here are some pics from En Qi's cam at Changi Airport:

Being the weird person that I am, I went back to the old RJ campus ALONE and took a few pics. Here's a sign that acknowledges who that piece of land still belongs to:

View as you walk in. Notice they painted the green railings white:

The basketball court where I was totally put off basketball:

The parade square:

...and just for kicks, Ghim Moh Macs:

it was a pretty creepy/nostalgic/emotional/morbid ten minutes in there for me..I hope to go back for more photos-before they tear it down.

Now this is a first..should have done it sooner really but anyway here it is--a post during night duty to help alleviate boredom that inevitably gets the better of me during these long, long nights despite the fact that I have the internet-a veritable repository of intresting reads and entertainment-at my disposal.
*I just got a msg! I luv msges during nite duty!*
I had actually set out to blog about night duty, but where shall I begin, given that I cannot reveal too much of what I'm doing now or the MSD will be after me? ohmigosh haven't blogged in so long that I actually have blogger's block..*another msg!*
Anyway I'm actually pretty happy about this duty bcos instead of working 19 hrs over 2 days, I only do 15.5 hrs over a night and 4 of those hours will be spent in the bunk (to which I will retire in 15 minutes' time)
OK that's all I have to say..afraid I've already said too much!
